Jon Jones allegedly threatens to kill drug tester, police investigating
UFC heavyweight champion Jon Jones is allegedly under investigation after Albuquerque, New Mexico, police received a concerning call about his behavior.
According to a regional outlet, ABQ Raw the incident transpired as a drug tester, employed by the drug testing agency Drug Free Sport International, sought to conduct a drug test on Jones.
The drug tester noticed Jones allegedly appeared extremely intoxicated and at one point threatened to kill her. The report also alleges that Jones even snagged the drug tester’s cell phone. The incident happened at the end of March, however the tester went to a location nearby Jones’s home today to report the incident.
A court record search did not produce any criminal summons or charges related to this incident as of today.
Jones, who is recovering from an injury, has shown a history of problematic behavior that has raised concerns among fans and officials. The former light heavyweight champion and future Hall of Famers has had a number of incidents with the law and abusive substances. He has faced a few criminal cases in New Mexico, New York where he is from and also Nevada where the UFC star most often fights.
The UFC partnered with Drug Free Sport International a few shorts ago after terminating their longtime relationship with the U.S. Anti-Doping Agency (USADA).
