Justin Gaethje is hoping Tony Ferguson will break his nose in the main event of UFC 249.
Gaethje is set to fight Ferguson for the interim lightweight title in what promises to be a phenomenal fight. Entering the fight, many believe “The Highlight” has what it takes to knockout Ferguson. But, where he says he’ll have success is the fact he’s not scared of “El Cucuy” and plans on going forward.
Not only is he not scared of Ferguson, but Gaethje hopes Ferguson breaks his nose so the UFC can pay for it to get fixed.
“Tony’s used to people being scared of him. I’m not scared,” Gaethje tells TMZ Sports. “I hope he breaks my nose. I’ve been waiting to get it fixed. It hasn’t been right for like 12 years, so I’ve been waiting for a long time for someone to break my nose, so maybe he’ll plant an elbow on there. I might regret asking for that ’cause it’s a painful injury, but I do need to get it fixed.”Justin Gaethje has made it clear, someone is getting knocked out and he’s fine with it ends up being him.
“I’m not scared to get hit,” he said. “I’m not scared to get sliced up, knocked out. That comes with the territory and I’m content with all those situations.”
In the end, Gaethje has said he’s here to spoil Ferguson vs. Khabib Nurmagomedov and plans on making that happen. He believes he’ll do what he did to James Vick, Edson Barboza, and most recently Donald Cerrone and that’s knocking out Tony Ferguson.
“I’m 100% confident in my ability to put him to sleep,” Gaethje said. “Tony has a brain. I just got to make it shake and then the natural course of the body takes place and he goes to sleep.”
