Li Jingliang vs Muslim Salikhov added to UFC Fight Night 210

We’ve recently been informed of a stellar welterweight match up going down at UFC Fight Night 210 between the greatest male Chinese fighter in UFC history, Li Jingliang, and one of the best kickboxers in the entire sport, Muslim Salikhov.

UFC Fight Night 210 is to go down on July 16, 2022, at a to-be-determined venue.

Li Jingliang came to the UFC back in 2014 with a record of 8-2, and though he’d go 2-2 through his first four octagon bouts, he’d then go 7-1 over his next eight en route to welterweight contendership.

A defeat to Neil Magny would follow, before he ended Santiago Ponzinibbio’s seven-fight win streak with a vicious first round KO victory. This was followed up by a loss to the undefeated Khamzat Chimaev, who’s currently ranked at no. 3 in the division.

Muslim Salikhov came to mixed martial arts after an incredibly impressive kickboxing career, where he went 185-13-1 through 199 bouts. That’s just astounding.

Once arriving in the UFC in 2017, already boasting a record of 13-1, he’d lose his promotional debut to Alex Garcia via submission (rear naked choke). Following this defeat however, he’s won his last five-straight, securing brutal KO victories in two of those wins.

Jingliang has been finished just twice throughout his 25-fight mixed martial arts career (18-7), being submitted with rear naked chokes in both defeats.

Salikhov has lost just twice throughout his entire 20-fight mixed martial arts career (18-2), and both defeats come in fights where he too was submitted with rear naked chokes.

It’s safe to say this will probably play out on the feet, and it’s been a tough go for anyone to have success in striking with Salikhov. That being said, Jingliang is more than just a heavy-handed boxer, he does have some nice kicks to go along with it.

Who do you see winning this epic welterweight clash?

I became a fan of combat sports when I was 12 years old. I was scrolling through the channels and landed upon Versus, where WEC was televised. Urijah Faber fought Jens Pulver for the second time that night. That's the first fight I ever saw, and I was immediately hooked. So eventually, I began covering the sport in the fourth quarter of 2018, and have since started writing about animals as well.
