Lina Lansberg announces her retirement from MMA following UFC Vegas 69 loss

Lina Lansberg has announced her retirement from MMA.

Lansberg returned to the Octagon on Saturday at UFC Vegas 69 against Mayra Bueno Silva in her 11th UFC appearance. The 40-year-old was on a three-fight losing skid and the losing streak was extended as Lansberg was submitted in the second round in a one-sided fight.

Following the kneebar submission loss, Lansberg took to Instagram to announce her retirement from MMA after turning pro in 2012.

“Thank you so much for all the love and support,” Lansberg wrote. “This has been a hell of a ride and to start fighting is the best thing I’ve ever done. It has given me so, so much. But now it’s time to move on. I’m done.”

Lina Lansberg (10-8) went 4-7 in the UFC and started her UFC tenure out with a TKO loss to Cris Cyborg in the main event of UFC Brasilia in 2016. The Swede then followed that up with a decision win over Lucie Pudilova before being TKO’d by Aspen Ladd.

She then picked up a win over Gina Mazany before losing to Yana Kunitskaya as Lansberg alternated losses and wins for her first five UFC appearances. Lansberg then won two straight against Tonya Evinger and Macy Chiasson before losing four straight to end her career. The four losses came to Sara McMann, Pannie Kianzad – as the two fought in Lansberg’s pro-MMA debut with Kianzad winning by TKO – Karol Rosa, and Bueno Silva.

Lansberg was ranked 14th at the time of her retirement from MMA.
