Liz Carmouche talks upcoming title defense at Bellator 294

Liz Carmouche is all set for her second title defense against DeAnna Bennet at Bellator 294 on April 21.

This title defense as one thing in common with her first one as it will once again be a rematch.

In Carmouche’s last fight, she rematched the women she took the title from in Juliana Velasquez.

When the two first met at Bellator 278, the fight ended with some controversy as many people believed the stoppage came a little early.

Carmouche didn’t feel that the stoppage was early and ahead of their rematch, she predicted that she would once again stop Velasquez and that’s exactly what happened.

Bellator 289 when Carmouche and Velasquez ran things back, Carmouche submitted Velasquez in the second round and put an ending on that chapter of her career.

Now she’ll revisit another chapter in Bennet.

In 2020, Carmouche came into Bellator following a long stint in the UFC in which she fought Ronda Rousey for the UFC bantamweight championship in the first ever UFC’s women’s title fight. She then fought for Valentina Shevchenko in her last UFC fight in which that fight was for the UFC women’s flyweight championship.

Bellator booked Carmouche against Bennet right after they signed Carmouche and she made the best of her first Bellator outing as she beat Bennet by a unanimous decision.

That win started a now five fight winning streak for Carmouche in which she credits to being a late learner and now understanding the importance of recovery and keeping her body fresher for fight night.

As Carmouche has looked the best she’s ever looked in her career, she’s vowing to continue her success. She knows she beat Bennet once and this time around she feels like she’ll beat her even easier as she is predicting a second round TKO win.

Prior to the fight, Carmouche spoke with MyMMANews to discuss her matchup with Bennet, her keys to longevity in the sport and how much she is looking forward to fighting in Hawaii.
