Differentiation in this camp as compared to some previous prep for Magomedkerimov fights
“This time I decided to do my camp here in Dagestan at home. My plan is to fly out a week prior to the fight… For the last five years, I’ve been prepping in American Top Team. That’s first time in five years I’m back home doing the whole camp here in Dagestan. So it’s a little bit change of approach here… This time it’s more about the family time. Since I spend a lot of time away, I figured this time would be great to stay back home to chat with family, with relatives, and also have a great camp here in Dagestan.”
“As a matter of fact, I am training right now at Khabib’s gym. We have a lot of great fighters here. Islam Makhachev is here currently. Bunch of other guys. So I’m definitely getting all the proper training that I need here.”
PFL 6
The state of PFL nowadays with newer names to the fold like Francis Ngannou, Jake Paul, and fellow 170-pounder Cedric Doumbe from the perspective of the promotion’s inaugural welterweight champ since the season-playoffs structure became instantiated
“Definitely I like what PFL is doing with all the new signings. With Francis, getting more attention, that’s definitely a primetime. For myself, yeah I feel like it’s time for me to regain my championship, get the belt again. That’s the time because I’ve been training and this is the time for me to shine. I have the most victories in the division. So I think I’m the guy who’s gonna get it this year.”
“Yeah, I wouldn’t say there’s anybody that I see a specific challenge. That is somebody much better than me that I really wanna fight. I’m not gonna call anybody out but whoever I have to face, I will face. They will just be another step in my way.”
Thoughts on Zawada’s stylistic attributes and resume overall
“Yes, I know David Zawada personally. We used to train in American Top Team. So, fortunately, unfortunately for him, I know his weaknesses. I know his weak sides and I will exploit that whenever we end up in the cage.”
