Michael Page set to fight Yaroslav Amosov for Bellator welterweight title

The Bellator welterweight title next will be put on the line by champion Yaroslav Amosov when he takes on Michael Page in early 2022.

Coker confirmed with MMAjunkie.com that Bellator is booking Amosov vs. Page for 170lbs gold next. According to the Bellator president, the plan is for this Amosov vs. Page fight to take place in London.

“We are in the process of putting that fight together now with him and MVP to fight in London at some point early next year,” Coker said.

Amosov is 26-0 in his MMA career and he is coming off of a unanimous decision win over Douglas Lima back in June to capture the Bellator welterweight championship. As for Page, he is also coming off of a decision win over Lima, albeit by the split variety. However, Page is riding a six-fight win streak, so while the win over Lima was certainly controversial, his overall win streak means a title shot makes sense.

Coker further explained how the Amosov vs. Page fight came together, indicating that Page initially wanted a trilogy fight with Lima to shut up the doubters before deciding to agree to fight Amosov for the belt next.

“I know MVP was kinda back-and-forth, do I want to fight Lima again, do I want to fight Amosov and then we said hey, just go think about it,” Coker said. “Our opinion as a company is you want to take the next step. You want to go fight for the belt now. This is your time. If you don’t do it now, when are you gonna do it? and then you can come back and fight Lima again in the future. So to me, it’s the right fight to put together. I think it’ll happen in the second quarter. It will be in London and it will be a massive fight over there because he’s such a big star.”

Who do you think wins this Bellator welterweight title fight between Michael Page and Yaroslav Amosov?
