Ode Osbourne vs Tyson Nam booked for UFC on ESPN 41

UFC on ESPN 41 is quickly becoming a card to watch, as the UFC continues adding exciting match ups to the lineup.

Headlined by former multi-time UFC bantamweight champion, no. 8 ranked Dominick Cruz, who faces no. 5 ranked Marlon Vera in the main event of the evening, UFC on ESPN 41 is to go down on August 13, 2022, live from the Pechanga Arena in San Diego, California.

We’ve just been informed of a very exciting flyweight encounter going down at this event as well, between Tyson Nam and Ode Osbourne.

Tyson Nam finally came to the UFC in September of 2019 after a 28-fight run seeing him go 18-9-1.

Following back-to-back defeats to current Bellator bantamweight champion Sergio Pettis and no. 2 ranked Kai Kara-France, who’s rematching former UFC flyweight champion Brandon Moreno for the interim title at UFC 277, Nam would win his next two bouts via knockout.

First, he’d KO former professional kickboxer, who went 16-3 in the sport, Zarrukh Adashev in just 32 seconds. Nam followed this up with another knockout, this one a TKO victory over Jerome Rivera just 34 seconds into round two.

However, since then, which was in September of 2020, Nam has fought just once, a split decision defeat to Matt Schnell. That was in January of 2021, and he looks to get back on the horse, as well as back on the winning track at UFC on ESPN 41.

Ode Osbourne has also had some hiccups through his career, debuting in the UFC in January of 2020 with a record of 8-2. Following a submission (guillotine choke) defeat in his promotional debut to Brian Kelleher, up at 135 lbs mind you, Osbourne’s next bout would take place at featherweight, 145 lbs.

This outing saw him too defeat Jerome Rivera, and Osbourne also KO’d him, himself just 26 seconds into the opening round. A knockout defeat to former Rizin bantamweight champion Manel Kape would follow, before Osbourne won his last two-straight bouts, finishing off with a KO victory over Zarrukh Adashev.

As you see, through their short UFC careers (Nam five fights, Osbourne four fights), each man fought, defeated, and finished both Adashev and Rivera. That’s what makes this such a great job of matchmaking!

Who do you see coming out on top in this exciting flyweight clash going down at UFC on ESPN 41?

I became a fan of combat sports when I was 12 years old. I was scrolling through the channels and landed upon Versus, where WEC was televised. Urijah Faber fought Jens Pulver for the second time that night. That's the first fight I ever saw, and I was immediately hooked. So eventually, I began covering the sport in the fourth quarter of 2018, and have since started writing about animals as well.
