Paddy Pimblett set for return opposing Jared Gordon at UFC 282

UFC 282 is quickly becoming a card to watch, an event headlined by UFC light-heavyweight champion (and former Rizin light-heavyweight champion) Jiri Prochazka (29-3-1), who aims to make the first defense of his newly claimed title in an immediate rematch opposing former champion Glover Teixeira (33-8).

UFC 282 is to go down on December 10, 2022, live from the T-Mobile Arena in Paradise, Nevada.

The event also showcases a top contender bout in the light-heavyweight division between no. 2 ranked former UFC light-heavyweight champion Jan Blachowicz (29-9), who faces former WFCA light-heavyweight champion and no. 3 ranked Magomed Ankalaev (18-1).

Another exciting clash that’s recently been added to the card comes in the lightweight division showcasing former Cage Warriors & FCC featherweight champion Paddy Pimblett (19-3), who faces former CFFC featherweight champion Jared Gordon (19-5) at this event.

Paddy Pimblett has been making headlines since he was in Cage Warriors, well before he ever came over to the UFC.

Following his arrival in September of 2021, the 27-year-old star has since gone 3-0 inside the octagon with three finishes.

This began with a vicious KO (punches) victory over Luigi Vendramini at 4:25 of round one, his first and only time ever fighting outside of the UK. That bout went down in the fight capital of the world, Las Vegas, Nevada, just as this one opposing Gordon will.

Then came his back-to-back UFC London appearances in March and July of this year respectively, where he submitted (rear naked choke) Rodrigo Vargas at 3:50 of round one, before doing the same to Jordan Leavitt at 2:46 of round two.

One thing we’ve seen out of Pimblett in all three of his UFC affairs is that he can overcome adversity.

The former Cage Warriors champion was stunned with some heavy punches in his promotional debut, he was taken down early in his next outing and spent some time on his back before taking Vargas’ back and sinking in the choke, and he spent most of his fight with Leavitt being controlled along the fence.

But he finds a way to win, every time seemingly.

And, what’s more, he finds a way to secure the finish (only four decision wins in his career).

Jared Gordon is perhaps the best fighter he’ll have faced in the UFC thus far, as he’s gone 4-1 in his last five, most recently defeating Leo Santos following defeat to 18-1-1 Grant Dawson earlier this year in April.

Prior to that, his most recent defeat came to future, now former UFC lightweight champion Charles Oliveira back in 2019. And, Gordon has already defeated a former Cage Warriors champion in Chris Fishgold, a victory he secured immediately following his defeat to Oliveira.

Who comes out of this lightweight encounter on top at UFC 282?

I became a fan of combat sports when I was 12 years old. I was scrolling through the channels and landed upon Versus, where WEC was televised. Urijah Faber fought Jens Pulver for the second time that night. That's the first fight I ever saw, and I was immediately hooked. So eventually, I began covering the sport in the fourth quarter of 2018, and have since started writing about animals as well.
