Pannie Kianzad out-strikes Eubanks to a unanimous decision victory

The Ultimate Fighting Championship holds its final event of 2020 with UFC Fight Night 183 on Saturday, Dec. 19.

Headlining the event are two ranked welterweights in Stephen Thompson and Geoff Neal inside the UFC Apex in Las Vegas, Nevada. The co-main event features a bantamweight affair between the former UFC featherweight champion Jose Aldo and the surging Marlon Vera.

In a women’s bantamweight bout, Sijara “Sarj” Eubanks takes on Pannie Kianzad on the preliminary portion of the card.

Eubanks, a former Ultimate Fighter finalist has stayed active in the crazy year of 2020 with her bout against Kianzad being her 4th in the year. “Sarj” is 2-1 thus far in the year, dropping her last outing to Ketlen Vieira via unanimous decision.

Pannie Kianzad entered the UFC in 2019 and suffered a defeat in her debut at the hands of Julia Avila. Since that bout, she has strung two wins together and is looking to make it a 3rd as she takes on Sijara Eubanks at UFC Fight Night 183.

Here is how the women’s bantamweight bout between Sijara “Sarj” Eubanks and Pannie “Bonzai” Kianzad went down at UFC fight night 183, including around by around scoring. For full results of the event, check them out right here.

Round 1: Sharp jabs early from Kianzad. Eubanks returns fire with her own jabs. Kianzad overthrows a right hand and Eubanks switches levels to get Kianzad to the canvas. Kianzad attempts to get to her feet. Eubanks drags her away from the cage, taking away her base to stand, and gets to work. Eubanks scrambles for a dominant position and peppers Kianzad with several punches from guard. Kianzad attempts an armbar. Eubanks easily escapes and looks to advance position. Eubanks presses her knee on belly and seamlessly transitions to Kianzads back, looking to lock in a rear-naked choke in the closing seconds.

Round 2: Eubanks immediately presses Kianzad against the fence, and starts working her knees. Kianzad reverses Eubanks, secures the Thai clinch, and starts working her own strikes, switching from knees to punches against the cage. Kianzad retreats to center-cage momentarily. She sees an opening and pushes Eubanks against the fence again to work her superior Thai skills. Eubanks switches levels and gets the contest to the mat. Kianzad looks for an armbar that Eubanks escapes easily. The bout gets back to the feet and Kianzad is beginning to take control. In the closing seconds, Eubanks looks for another takedown, but she eats elbows from Kianzad against the fence for the final seconds.

Round 3: Kianzad is popping her jab fluidly, maintaining distance. Eubanks presses Kianzad against the fence briefly, but Kianzad reverses and continues utilizing her clinch work. The fighters separate and Kianzad goes to work maintaining a good distance while scoring from the outside. Eubanks throws caution to the wind and loads up for a brief explosion with nothing significant landing. In the closing minute, Eubanks is landing the harder punches, but Kianzad is landing in numbers as the final bell sounds.
