Phil Hawes puts Jacob Malkoun out in one round

Phil Hawes made the most of his main event platform in his UFC debut. Hawes knocked out Jacob Malkoun at 18 seconds into round one at UFC 254 on Saturday, Oct. 24.

The reigning UFC lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov is back at UFC 254 tonight, Saturday, Oct. 24.

He is set to defend his title against the current interim UFC lightweight champion Justin Gaethje in the event’s headliner in Yas Island, Abu Dhabi. The evening’s co-main event is between former middleweight champion Robert Whittaker welcomes the surging Jared Cannonier.

Middleweights Phil Hawes and Jacob Malkoun both will make their UFC debuts on the main card of a pay-per-view event.

Hawes will make his first walk to the octagon after multiple failed attempts at earning a UFC contract. He most recently finished Khadzhimurat Bestaev via first-round TKO in Dana White’s Contenders Series this past September, earning a UFC contract.

He is currently on a four-fight win streak. His last defeat is a second-round knockout to fellow UFC middleweight Julian Marquez. It marked Hawes’ first appearance on Dana White’s Contender Series in August 2017.

In 2016, “Megatron” missed out on getting into “The Ultimate Fighter” house. He suffered a unanimous decision loss to the show’s eventual winner, Andrew Sanchez on TUF 23.

Malkoun enters the octagon undefeated at 4-0. He most recently beat Sebastian Temesi via unanimous decision at Eternal MMA 48 in October 2019.

ROUND 1

Hawes comes to the center with Malkoun on the outside. Hawes unloads with his hands. Malkoun goes down with a right hook. Hawes lands about four more punches before referee Jason Herzog steps in for the knockout stoppage.
