Sergei Pavlovich wants the winner of Jon Jones vs. Stipe Miocic next

UFC heavyweight contender Sergei Pavlovich wants to fight the winner of the upcoming title fight between champion Jon Jones and former champ Stipe Miocic next.

Pavlovich knocked out Curtis Blaydes in the first round of their UFC Vegas 71 main event fight. The Russian has won six straight fights by first-round knockout, and by taking out a top contender in Blaydes, many fans and media are calling for him to get a title shot. However, the UFC has already said the plan is to book Jones against Miocic next, so Pavlovich will have to wait for the winner before getting his shot.

That’s exactly what he plans to do. Speaking to the press following UFC Vegas 71, Pavlovich confirmed that he intends on waiting on the sidelines until Jones and Miocic fight, getting the next title shot afterward.

“I’ll rest. I’ll eat. I’ll sleep. I’ll rest some more. I’ll wait,” Pavlovich said (via MMAjunkie.com).

When asked who he would rather fight between Jones and Miocic, Pavlovich said that he is open to fighting either man, and he doesn’t have a preference about who his title shot would come against.

“I wouldn’t say that either of them would be an easy fight. I mean, they’re both hard warriors so I would have to prepare for whoever it is, then be ready for whoever they give me,” Pavlovich said.

After getting stopped by first-round TKO against Alistair Overeem in his UFC debut, Pavlovich has been on absolute fire, beating all of his opponents since then by way of brutal knockout. He has proven that he is one of the best heavyweights in the world, and if Jones and Miocic aren’t fighting next, then Pavlovich would surely be next in line to fight Jones for the title. Alas, it looks like he will have to wait for a while.

Do you agree with Sergei Pavlovich waiting for the winner of the Jon Jones vs. Stipe Miocic title fight, or do you think he should take another fight in the meantime?
