Sodiq Yusuff gets back on the winning track at UFC Vegas 50

The Ultimate Fighting Championship returns to us tonight, March 12, 2022, for UFC Vegas 50, headlined by light-heavyweight contenders Thiago Santos and Magomed Ankalaev.

Co-headlining the event is a bantamweight contest between former WSOF bantamweight champion Marlon Moraes, who faces a very promising Song Yadong here tonight.

Our feature fight of the night came in the featherweight division between ranked contenders Sodiq Yusuff (No. 12) and Alex Caceres (No. 15).

Yusuff is coming off the first defeat of his UFC tenure after four-straight victories, while Caceres has gone 5-0 throughout his last five, handing up-and-comers defeats left and right recently.

Continue reading to see how this featherweight contest went down:

Official Result: Sodiq Yusuff def. Alex Caceres via unanimous decision (30-27, 30-27, 29-28)

Both men open up the bout with hard round kicks to the body, and Caceres is following up with some more hard shots. Yusuff is chasing him down, looking to land his own shots, some of which he does.

Caceres secures a trip takedown and nearly takes Yusuff’s back, but Yusuff’s defense is good and they’re back to striking. Yusuff then ties Caceres up along the fence for the remaining minute or so of the first.

Yusuff really begins to get his leg kicks going in the second, particularly his inside leg kick. Caceres’ leg is absolutely battered by the end of the second round, he was even taken off his feet a number of times from them.

It’d appear Yusuff has a one-legged opponent going into the third.

Caceres is able to put some combinations together to start the third, but Yusuff finds his leg kick, along with his other strikes not long into it. And, when Caceres is coming in with his own strikes, at this point, he’s getting countered with hard shots.

Yusuff gets back on the winning track at UFC Vegas 50!

I became a fan of combat sports when I was 12 years old. I was scrolling through the channels and landed upon Versus, where WEC was televised. Urijah Faber fought Jens Pulver for the second time that night. That's the first fight I ever saw, and I was immediately hooked. So eventually, I began covering the sport in the fourth quarter of 2018, and have since started writing about animals as well.
