Terrance McKinney talks upcoming fight, defending Joe Rogan and overcoming drug addiction

Terrance McKinney has been on one heck of a ride so far in life.

Right now he is fighting in the UFC, has an 11-3 professional record, and when he made his UFC debut last year, he set a UFC lightweight record for fastest knockout as he only need seven seconds to win his first octagon appearance.

While everything is going great for McKinney right now, his journey to this point was no bed of roses.

When McKinney was in college he development a bad drug problem and suffered with addiction. During his worst moment, he overdosed, was sent to the hospital and was brought back to life twice.

Right after he nearly died, his mother came to see him in the hospital and brought along McKinney’s two brothers. McKinney said when he the hurtful look on his brothers faces, he knew he had to make a change and he vowed to get help and beat addiction.

Now McKinney is drug free and living his best life. Not only is he enjoying being a professional athlete and fighting in MMA’s biggest promotion, but he’s gained a large social media following as well.

Recently, McKinney had a tweet that went virtual and was picked up by multiple news outlets as he stood up for Joe Rogan who has been in many headlines over the past few weeks for his highly successful podcast and the topics he discusses on his program.

Prior to McKinney’s upcoming fight against Fares Ziam at UFC Vegas 49 on Feb. 26, McKinney spoke with MyMMANews about his UFC debut, his upcoming fight, his battle with drug addiction and defending Joe Rogan.
