Tom “Freight Train” Lane on track for ROC 79

Video interview with Tom Lane above

Tom “Freight Train” Lane heads to the cage on March 3rd looking to start his career 3-0. Ring of Combat 79 will be hosted by Louis Neglia Jr and Dead Serious Promotions at their normal home in Atlantic City, NJ inside the Tropicana Casino and Hotel Resort.  I will be joined by ROC alum and former UFC stand-out “Raging” Al Iaquinta at the commentary table.  Iaquinta knows Lane very well.

Lane calls Gym O in Gastonia, NC home now, but it all started for him on the mats in New York.  Lane tells MyMMANews

“My first wrestling coach was “Raging” Al Iaquinta.  He was fighting for Ring of Combat at the time.  My mom was taking kickboxing lessons at the gym to stay in shape.  One day, Al was like…bring your son down.  I was a freshman in high school, and he said I should try wrestling.  That was the first time I was on a mat, and it was at Ray Longo’s gym.  I started wrestling all over Long Island.  MMA was always in the back of my mind. I graduated college with an accounting degree from Cal-Poly. Covid hit so I figured the normal thing to do would be get a job. I hated it.  For 5 months I worked at a desk, and it was not for me.  I said to myself that I’m 24 years old and I should just go for it so when I am 30, I’m not saying I should have done this.”

So far, so good for the undefeated middleweight.  He will welcome Ramirez Fight House’s De’Jon Farrell-Francis as he makes his professional debut.  He has won his last two fights while working on every part of his game taking grappling and kickboxing bouts.  Farrell-Francis has kept a very busy schedule and I’m sure his coaches are preparing for a wrestling heavy attack.
