Top Five Flyweights Askar Askarov and Alex Perez set to meet in July

Per UFC News Alerts and Iridium Sports Agency, top flyweights Askar Askarov and Alex Perez will throw down on July 16th.

Askarov (14-1-1) has gained quite a lot of hype since making his way to the UFC from ACB. In the ACB, Askarov held the flyweight championship belt for two years before his UFC debut in 2019.

Under the UFC banner, the 29-year-old has collected victories over Tim Elliott, Alexandre Pantoja, and Joseph Benavidez. In his most recent outing, he suffered a unanimous decision loss to Kai Kara-France at UFC Fight Night: Blaydes vs. Daukaus

Looking to re-enter title contention and get back in the win column, Askar Askarov will have no easy task as he takes on Alex Perez.

Perez (24-6-0) who is also coming off of a loss, took on flyweight champion Deiveson Figueiredo in 2020. Despite losing that bout, Perez has strung together a great resume during his time with the UFC. He has defeated the likes of Mark De La Rosa, Jordan Espinosa, and Jussier Formiga since signing with the promotion in 2017.

With both men looking to make their way to the title, this will be a fight you will not want to miss.

With the only other announced bout on the July 16th Fight Night card being light-heavyweights Dustin Jacoby vs. Da Un Jung, make sure to keep up to date here at MyMMANews as the card develops.
