UFC 241’s Jodie Esquibel: “My footwork alone could lead the fight”
Every fighter expects success. The start to her UFC run hasn’t went the way Jodie Esquibel envisioned but the journey continues at UFC 241 with a bout against Hannah Cifers.
Three fights in the UFC and so far things have not went your way, what have you learned?
“I’ve learned a lot. I feel like I’ve had a tough go honestly, but that’s cool. Like, I’m in a better place now because of it. It’s made me a better fighter and I’ve found out a lot about myself through those fights. It’s great. I’m very thankful for the road given.”
Hannah Cifers is going to be your opponent at UFC 241. What do you think of the matchup?
“I think it’s a great matchup. I’ve always wanted somebody that’s going to stand in front of me it’s like I felt like I was chasing the other opponents down and Hannah is definitely one to stand and bang. I feel like it’s going to be a great fight. She’s super strong. It’s a great great matchup for me.”
How big of a factor do you feel your footwork will play in this fight, feeling that you have an advantage in that area?
“My footwork alone could lead the fight. However, I know my striking could lead the fight, my wrestling can, my Jiu Jitsu can. I know all that, however hands down my footwork and athleticism all day.”
