Arnold Allen storms through and TKO’s Dan Hooker at UFC London

The Ultimate Fighting Championship returns to us today, March 19, 2022, for UFC Fight Night 204, going down live from the O2 Arena in London, England.

Headlining the event is a heavyweight clash between former M-1 & Bellator champion Alexander Volkov (No. 6) and rising contender Tom Aspinall (No. 11).

Co-headlining the event is Dan Hooker’s return to the featherweight division, as he takes on No. 7 ranked Arnold Allen.

This is Hooker’s first fight in the 145 lb division since 2016, while Allen comes in with a perfect 8-0 record inside the octagon.

Official Result: Arnold Allen def. Dan Hooker via TKO (punches) at 2:33 of round one

Both men come out ready to fight in kickboxing range, as Allen starts to get his calf kick going.

After the fourth or fifth one lands, Hooker returns, before they get into a firefight.

Allen badly hurts Hooker with a flurry of punches and absolutely swarms him. Hooker then catches Allen with a nasty check left hook that drops him momentarily.

After a number of other punches were thrown and landed, the two go back to kickboxing range for a short period to regain composure. Allen then backs Hooker up with another crisp combination, hurting him badly once again.

It’s incredible Hooker never hit the canvas, because he was taking some serious shots.

Nonetheless, Allen is able to get a standing TKO victory as Hooker was covered up along the fence.

We all knew Allen was an incredibly skilled, technical talent, but wow. He just finished a former kickboxer in half a round! This is his ninth-straight victory inside the octagon, but just his third finish.

If there’s one thing he needed, it was a finish over someone like Dan Hooker.

I became a fan of combat sports when I was 12 years old. I was scrolling through the channels and landed upon Versus, where WEC was televised. Urijah Faber fought Jens Pulver for the second time that night. That's the first fight I ever saw, and I was immediately hooked. So eventually, I began covering the sport in the fourth quarter of 2018, and have since started writing about animals as well.
