Arnold Allen wants featherweight title shot with win over Max Holloway at UFC Kansas City

Rising contender Arnold Allen wants a UFC featherweight title shot with a win over Max Holloway in the main event of this weekend’s UFC Kansas City card.

Allen has won all 10 of his UFC fights, and this Saturday night at UFC Kansas City, he gets a huge step up in competition when he takes on the former champ Holloway. For Allen, he believes he will have nothing left to prove in the division should he get past Holloway. Speaking to reporters ahead of the event, Allen said that if he defeats “Blessed” this weekend, then he wants to fight for the UFC featherweight title in his next outing.

“I think (my next fight should be for the belt). I feel like it has to. There’s nowhere else to go then surely,” Allen said (via MMAjunkie.com).

The UFC featherweight title is currently held by Alexander Volkanovski, who defends it this summer at UFC 290 against interim champ Yair Rodriguez. For Allen, he will be hoping to get past Holloway this weekend and then take on the winner of that bout.

Speaking of Holloway, Allen had nothing but good things to say about the former champion, who is considered to be one of the best featherweight fighters of all time.

“(Max is an) ex-champion, one of the greatest featherweights of all time. His resume is nothing short of inspiring. He’s done all the things I want to do, and he’s set the path for the things I want to do too,” Allen said.

It will be interesting to see how Allen performs against Holloway this weekend, as a big win would put him in line for the next title shot, while a loss would certainly pause his title hopes for the time being, making this the biggest and most important fight of his career.

Do you think Arnold Allen will defeat Max Holloway at UFC Kansas City?
