Julian Marquez ends two-year layoff, meets Saparbeg Sarafov at UFC’s Aug. 29 event
Julian Marquez is returning to the octagon after a two-year layoff.
Marquez tore his latissimus dorsi in a split decision loss to Alessio Di Chirico in “The Ultimate Fighter” 27 Finale in July 2018. The 30 year old underwent two seperate surgeries, which kept him away from the octagon.
Julian Marquez is 1-1 in the UFC with a second-round submission win against Darren Stewart at UFC on FOX 26 in December 2017. He earned his UFC contract with a second-round head kick knockout over Phil Hawes on Dana White’s Contender Series in August 2017.
Sarafov won one of four UFC bouts, a unaninous decision victory against Nicolae Negumereanu in March 2019. Most recently, Sarafov lost by first-round submission to Rodolfo Vieira at UFC 248 on March 7.
