Massive Change To ESPN Africa Boxing 13 Card

The ESPN Africa Boxing 13 event is upon us and, as is the case with combat sports, the ceremonial weigh-ins took place today, ahead of the event. Most of the card stayed in-tact, as most fighters made weight. The featherweight bout between Gerald Titus and Sphamanda Manqatha was changed to a junior lightweight (super flyweight) bout after both fighters came in slightly overweight. The main event, which was set to see Bangile Nyangani defend his SA Mini Flyweight Championship against Thembelani Okolo, has been cancelled. Now taking up the main event slot is the Koos Sibiya vs. Steven Bagwasi lightweight bout. This change makes the card a six-fight event.

Koos Sibiya has been a mainstay on the African boxing scene, having a career that dates back to March of 2000. Over the years, Sibiya has had 44 bouts in total, with 23 of those being wins for him. His opponent, Steven Bagwasi, is on the younger side and has only seven fights since the inception of his career in December 2017. With just those seven fights though, he has proven his dominance by getting six wins – and his only loss was a decision loss. This fight serves as the ultimate clash of Sibiya’s experience and bouncing back from adversity up against the assertive dominance packed with momentum that Bagwasi brings to the fight. Here is the official full fight card of the evening.
