Mike Tyson – “Robin Williams’ Drug Dealer Was My Drug Dealer”
Famed boxing legend Mike Tyson opens up to Howard Stern about mental illness and drug addiction. Tyson who has battled both depression and drug addiction says he met now deceased actor Robin Williams while in therapy.
“How does he know this lowlife dealer that I use? They shouldn’t even be in the same state together….because of his status,” Tyson told Stern. “You go through any measures to get high or to use when you are in that situation, so everyone knows everybody.”
Tyson tells Stern that he has fears that he too is capable of suicide. “He (Williams) was sober for 20 something years and he died. What kind of chance to I stand? You think that he’s clear and free but we are never clear and free.”
Williams died August 11, 2014. In the initial report released on August 12, the Marin County Sheriff’s Office deputy coroner stated Williams had hanged himself with a belt and died from asphyxiation. The final autopsy report, released in November , affirmed that Williams had committed suicide as initially described; neither alcohol nor illegal drugs were involved, while any prescription drugs present in his body were at “therapeutic” levels. The report also noted that Williams had been suffering “a recent increase in paranoia.
