MPR Endurance MMA …Get your Sambo on and a whole lot more
MPR Endurance MMA in Langhorne, Pennsylvania is home to several outstanding mixed martial arts competitors.
Zu Anyanwu is the top heavyweight in the area, currently holding the Cage Fury Fighting Championship heavyweight title.
Pat Sabatini (145) is 6-1 and on the verge of greatness.
Johnson Jajoute is just about ready to get back in the cage. There is also an evolving, expanding list of amateur fighters.
The “Mastermind” as Sabatini refers to him, is Erik Purcell, who is the owner and head coach of this beautiful facility that caters to all, including women and children.
When I rolled in, there was Thomas “Boss” Bailey teaching a strength and conditioning class, Sabatini on the mats for advanced BJJ, and a crowd gathering for the 8pm Sambo class.
MPR is the home base for a good portion of the U.S. National Sambo team.
Purcell, and two of his brilliant coaches, Bob Clark and Mikhail Kozitskiy, will be preparing Sabatini, Jajoute, Anthony Terrell, Catherine Marino, and Jamie Driver to travel to Russia and represent the U.S. in two weeks.
Purcell is an active member of the team but will not be making the trip.
Evan Chmielski has also competed for the national team and is another strong team member.
Purcell glows when talking Sambo.
He’s been competing in some type of combat sport since 1993 and absolutely loves to instruct others in his craft.
It’s been a great ride as Erik went from fighting in his first MMA event for Rhino fight team, to opening up a tiny gym, and now to a state of the art complex that has everything necessary to be a world class athlete.
MPR Endurance is located at 864 Town Center Drive, Langhorne behind the Oxford Valley Mall movie theater.
At nearly 8,000 square feet, the new MPR is bigger and better with a 24ft MMA Cage, double the mat space, boxing ring, more equipment and more classes!
It’s a place where he spends most of his days and nights. The people in his programs are having fun, learning and enjoying a family atmosphere from what I witnessed.
He has an NFL player, a Major League Baseball coach , All-American wrestlers all coming in to try and better themselves.
His open mats on Sundays are chock full of all kinds of athletes if you ever want to visit. You will not be disappointed.
