Odie Delaney hopes rumor of Alain Ngalani retiring not true, wants fight
“The Witness” Odie Delaney (3-0) will have his hands full in a heavyweight bout on the preliminary portion of ONE Championship‘s ONE: 158 fight card on Friday, but that hasn’t stopped him from looking ahead at potential future opponents.
In just a matter of days, the 32-year-old Delaney out of Asheville, North Carolina will meet Iran’s Mehdi Barghi (4-3) in Singapore.
When asked who Delaney wants to fight to help get his name to household status, anyone in the division that he is eyeing to fight in the future, the heavyweight contender was quick to answer.
“I’ve been really wanting a fight with Alain Ngalani,” Delaney said. “Like, I heard a rumor that he might be kind of unofficially retired, just a rumor but I really hope not. If he’s going to hang it up, I hope that he makes me his last fight because I’ve always wanted to fight that guy. He’s just a specimen of a human being, he’s a good person too. But yeah, I think it’ll just be a good fight for me, you know. Yeah, I’ve been watching him for a long time. And I’ve always wanted to get in there and scrap with him. So I hope he does at least one more.”
With an undefeated 3-0 record, including one submission win with ONE, Delaney surely is one of the more exciting fighters on the promotion’s roster that fans are keeping an eye on. Tune in to ONE: 158 this Friday. Fight card below.
