One Fight On Bellator 278 To Keep Your Eye On

Bellator 278 has a flyweight title fight and two wild card fights to get into their Bantamweight Grand Prix. When a fight card has a title fight on it, sometimes fights fall under the radar. So, with everyone’s attention on those matchups, there is a light heavyweight matchup that you should keep your eye on.

Grant Neal vs. Christian Edwards is the second fight on the main card, and it is a great fight. Both fighters are trying to rebound from their first professional loss, and for Edwards, he is trying to get back into the top 10 rankings.

Edwards (5-1) dropped out of the top 10 rankings recently and will be looking to take Neal’s number. Edwards has had a lot of hype behind him ever since his Bellator debut back in 2019. He was seen as Jon Jones’ protege, fighting out of JacksonWink. He was living up to the hype for his first five fights, finishing all but one opponent. However, in his last fight, he got humbled and brought back to normalcy as Ben ‘Big Tuna’ Parrish knocked him out in 38 seconds.
When a fighter loses their first fight, sometimes, it can be a do or die in their next outing.

Like his opponent, Neal (6-1) lost his last fight, which snapped his undefeated record. He lost to Alex Polizzi in a very close split decision, in which Neal still believes he did enough. ‘The Truth’ is ranked No. 9 in the Bellator’s light heavyweight rankings. Neal is 5-1 in Bellator and finished three of those opponents. In the fight before he suffered his first professional loss, he took his opponent’s 0. At Bellator 259, he choked out Tyree Fortune, handing him his first loss.

A lot is riding on this fight at Bellator 278. One of these fighters will be on a two-fight skid after starting their career perfect. With a win, Edwards takes Neal’s ranking and starts his hype again. As for Neal, he is looking to defend his ranking and continue his climb toward the top five.

Keep an eye on this fight.
