Piotr Kuberski: FEN’s Newest Middleweight Champion

One of Tapology’s top-20 middleweights in all of Eastern Europe, FEN champion Piotr Kuberski is continuing to make a name for himself in the hotbed of Polish MMA. The Polish striker is now 10-1 in his professional career, riding a seven-fight winning streak. Along the way, he has also secured a unanimous decision victory as a professional boxer. With eight of his career 10 wins coming by knockout, what is next and how high is the ceiling for this FEN rising star?

Finding MMA

Similar to many fighters, “Qbear” Kuberski found MMA in his later teenage years. “I wanted to fight since I was a child. The financial situation did not allow me to do so. It wasn’t until the age of 16-17 that I started training boxing. After another two months, I started training Muay Thai and after six months, I added No-gi. After a year, I tried MMA. In my first MMA competition (Polish championship) I took 3rd place. A year later, I made my professional debut, winning in the first round by TKO,” Kuberski told MyMMANews.

Landing At Goslina Team

With any successful fighter, the perfect fight team needs to be found. For Kuberski, the perfect home to fine-tune his craft was Goslina Team. “Initially, for many years I trained in at Goślina Team club. There, under the supervision of Slawek Iracki and Mateusz Juskowiak, I trained and improved my MMA techniques. After about six years, I moved to the Ankos MMA Poznań Club where Andrzej Koscielski is my main trainer. He trains fighters such as Mahmud Muradov and Marcin Tybura. Some of my other trainers include Marek Drażczynski, Mariusz Koperski for boxing, and Marcin Bilman for Muay Thai. Marek Drażdżyński trains me in kickboxing,” stated Kuberski.

Aside from training partners such as UFC-rostered fighters Muradov and Tybura, Kuberski also trains alongside the likes of title contender “Stormin'” Norman Parke. The improved level of training allowed Kuberski to earn a spot on the FEN roster. Currently, he is 3-0 in the organization and FEN’s middleweight champion. In his organizational debut, Kuberski earned a second-round TKO stoppage against an opponent with twice as much experience. After a decision win in November 2021 to close out his activity for the year, Kuberski came into FEN 40 in June 2022 ready to begin his takeover on the Polish MMA scene.

Winning FEN Gold And Kuberski’s Future

Kuberski was entering his vacant title fight at FEN 40 against arguably his toughest task to date in Marcin Naruszcka (23-11-2). With 11 finishes heading into the contest with Kuberski, the veteran looked to have the edge. “I had o emotions in the contest,” Kuberski stated.  “In this duel, I was a dark horse. I told myself that it is okay to lose to Marcin, and that winning would be a great achievement for me. I didn’t put any pressure on myself, and I calmly went into this bout, and I never really do that!”

With only one fight under his belt so far for 2022, it’s likely we see the champion back in the cage soon. When asked when we can expect his return he stated, “I want to defend his belt this year. I need to earn some cash!”
