Renan Ferreira knocks Ryan Bader out in 21 seconds of PFL vs Bellator main event

We’ve got a big day of fights coming to us today, February 24, 2023, where PFL vs Bellator came to us live from the Kingdom Arena in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, just before The Ultimate Fighting Championship returns to us for UFC Mexico City later in the evening.

Headlining PFL vs Bellator is a heavyweight affair between 2023 PFL heavyweight champion Renan Ferreira (13-3, 3 NC) and Bellator heavyweight champion Ryan Bader (31-8, 1 NC).

Ferreira came into this evenings main event on a three-fight knockout streak, the last win of which showing him KO 32-7 Denis Goltsov to claim the PFL heavyweight championship this past November.

Bader on the other hand came in on a three-fight win streak himself, having defended his Bellator heavyweight title in each of those outings.

Official Result: Renan Ferreira def. Ryan Bader via TKO (punches) at :21 of round one

Bader came in to land a jab in the early goings of the fight, immediately being met with a nasty right cross thrown by Ferreira that drops him on the spot. Ferreira follows it up with a few heavy strikes on the ground and the fight was over quickly.

We knew this fight would go one of two ways – either Bader closes the distance, takes Ferreira down and overwhelms him with his wrestling, or Ferreira knocks him out, probably quickly if so, and the latter happened tonight in PFL vs Bellator’s main event.

Renan Ferreira now rides a four-fight knockout streak going into his future fight with former UFC heavyweight champion Francis Ngannou, the only one making it out of the opening round being stopped just 26 seconds into round two.

Standing 6’8” with an equally gigantic reach of 85”, Renan Ferreira could be a big problem for everyone he faces in the future.

I became a fan of combat sports when I was 12 years old. I was scrolling through the channels and landed upon Versus, where WEC was televised. Urijah Faber fought Jens Pulver for the second time that night. That's the first fight I ever saw, and I was immediately hooked. So eventually, I began covering the sport in the fourth quarter of 2018, and have since started writing about animals as well.
