Rob Gronkowski makes WWE Smackdown debut without fans in attendance
Former New England Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski made his WWE debut Friday night on Smackdown.
The event at the WWE Performance Center in Orlando, Florida went on without fans in attendance due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, but that did not stop the former professional football player from putting on a show.
“Let me tell you something,” Gronkowski said on the mic as he stood next to Mojo Rawley. “I’ve been watching (WWE) since second grade.”

“I’ve been to sold out Wrestlemanias in front of 80,000 people and now I’m here in front of zero people and I’m still hype baby!” he exclaimed. “But this time, I will be hosting Wrestlemania, because I’m ready for anything.”
Gronk, who was wearing a Gront Mania t-shirt, says he will be hosting WrestleMania 36 at the Performance Center, also without fans. It is scheduled for April 4-5 after it was initially scheduled for April 5 at Raymond James Stadium, home to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
The famed athlete, and future Hall of Famer, is not new to the WWE scene. He made an appearance at WrestleMania 33 when he helped Rawley in the Andre The Giant Memorial Battle Royal.
Rawley’s competitor Raw’s Jinder Mahal threw him out of the ring and began antagonizing Gronkowski, who watched from behind the barrier. Gronk eventually tried to join into the action but was restrained by security. However, the security couldn’t keep Rob Gronkowski at bay for long.
He eventually made his way into the action, and tackled Mahal. And Rawley went on to win the match.
