Former UFC women’s bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey appeared on the Ellen DeGeneres show which aired Tuesday morning where ‘Rowdy’ revealed some rather sad news.
The first UFC women’s champion opened up about her devastating knock out loss to Holly Holm at UFC 193 in November and how thoughts of suicide soon followed. Rousey was on the receiving end of much criticism following her loss and it was questioned whether the mixed martial arts star would return to the octagon for another fight.
“Honestly, my thought, I was like, in the medical room and I was like down in the corner, I was in the corner and I was like ‘ what am I any more if I’m not this?’
I was literally sitting there and thinking about killing myself and that exact second I’m like ‘I’m nothing, what do I do anymore and no one gives a shit about me anymore without this.’
And to be honest I looked up and I saw my man Travis (Browne) was standing up there and I looked up at him and I was like, I need to have his babies. I need to stay alive. Realy that was it.’ I haven’t told anybody that. I only told him.”
The incredible athlete tells all in her first talk show appearance since her shocking upset match with Holly Holm.
