Bubba McDaniel takes plea deal in road rage incident, fined and placed on six years probation

Former UFC fighter Bubba McDaniel has reached a plea deal in an alleged road rage incident where “The Menace” was accused of firing a weapon that struck a vehicle, according to the Times Record News.

McDaniel pleaded guilty to aggravated assault with a deadly weapon as part of a plea bargain, according to court records.

On Thursday, 89th District Judge Charles Barnard placed McDaniel on six years of probation and ordered him to pay a $1,000 fine, $290 in court costs and $110 in reimbursement fees, court filings show.

The professional mixed martial artist was arrested on a charge of deadly conduct-discharge of a firearm in connection with an Aug. 15, 2020. The road-rage incident which took place near a fire station was observed by firefighters who testified that McDaniel fired a weapon. McDaniel is accused of firing a gun after a confrontation between himself another driver in the 4900 block of Johnson Road, according to allegations in court records. One bullet hit the vehicle’s rear bumper.

If Bubba McDaniel can successfully serve his probation, he can avoid a conviction on his record.

Aggravated assault with a deadly weapon is punishable by up to 20 years in prison.

The road-rage incident took place roughly two years after McDaniel’s two-year old son, Jason Wilder McDaniel, was murdered. James Irven Staley III is accused murdering the boy. Amber Nichole McDaniel, the boy’s mother and McDaniel’s ex, was seeing Staley when the homicide took place.

Anyone accused of a crime is presumed innocent until proven guilty in the criminal justice system.
