Halle Berry to make directorial debut in mixed martial arts themed movie, ‘Bruised’
According to a report on MMA Weekly, famed actress Halle Berry will be making her directorial debut in a mixed martial arts theme film called ‘Bruised.’
The film, written by Michelle Rosenfarb, will tell the tale of a fighter struggling to make it in the sport of MMA while raising a child.
Berry will not only direct the film, but will also play the part of Jackie ‘Justice’ — “a disgraced MMA fighter who has failed at the one thing she’s ever been good at – fighting.
“When 6-year-old Manny, the son she walked out on years ago, returns to her doorstep, Jackie has to conquer her own demons, face one of the fiercest rising stars of the MMA world, and ultimately fight to become the mother this kid deserves.”
According to Damon Martin’s report, the choreography team behind ‘John Wick’ will handle the martial arts in the film.
“That team has previously been in charge of fight scenes in dozens of high profile action movies including ‘Black Panther’ and ‘Haywire’, which starred former Strikeforce fighter Gina Carano.”
A production date has not yet been announced.
UPDATE: Halle Berry was injured recently while filming “Bruised” and production has paused. The injury is reported to be minor, yet production was delayed due to the incident which happened in New Jersey. As per Fox News, executive producer Brian Pitt claims, “The injury is nothing serious.”
