Holly Holm defends JacksonWink MMA after Diego Sanchez’s comments
JacksonWink MMA was set for a massive card at UFC 239. They have Jon Jones and Holly Holm fighting for titles, while Diego Sanchez was also on the main card. Yet, just a week or so ago, Sanchez said he is leaving JacksonWink MMA for this fight. That resulted in more backlash to the gym which Holm doesn’t like. She says she is treated great all the time and is glad to be a member of the gym.
“Absolutely I want to win it for them, because they believe in me,” Holm said to MMA Junkie. “Doesn’t matter what the outside world thinks, I can walk into the gym, and I always tell people that’s where I feel most normal.”
Not only do they believe in her, but she says the coaches in Mike Winkeljohn and Greg Jackson among the others are the best in the game. But, she is thankful for them and takes pride in the fact she trains there.
“I am very prideful of my team, and I’m very thankful for my team, and I’m going to say this right now: It has never been different,” she said. “Coach Winkeljohn and coach Jackson are the most loyal, good coaches out there. They genuinely want you to win (and) they genuinely will be there. They’ve always been there. I’ve never had an issue. (I’ll say), ‘Coach, I need to work on this – what time?’
“There is so much wanting you to succeed, and that is why this team has been built just off of passion and hard work. There’s no big business money people behind our gym. None. You see a lot of these other big MMA gyms out there, and they have all this help and this backup from a lot of these sponsors and people with money, and our gym has been built off of passion and hard work and love for the sport, and that comes from the top.”
Regardless of the comments, Holly Holm is glad to be training at JacksonWink MMA. And, she will continue to back JacksonWink MMA forever.
