Ronda Rousey leaves championship belt in Brazil
Before UFC 190 took place, UFC women’s bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey, said that she was going to leave her belt in Brazil. Some took that as a sign that the fighter predicted she would lose the strap to challenger, Bethe Correia, however, the champion’s meaning was much different.
“Bethe did have one thing right. She said that the Brazilian people deserve to have the belt left here. So I’ve decided that after I win it, I’m going to make sure that when I have the belt, I don’t take it home with me. I’m going to give it and make sure that it stays someplace in Brazil as my gift.”

The champion chose to leave her title with Instituto Reação, a judo school run by Flavio Canto.
Canto, an Olympic bronze medalist, was given a $30,000 check earlier this year, several months after a trip there where she taught a judo class to the kids.
