Video: Benoit Saint-Denis TKO’s Thiago Moises late in the second at UFC Paris

The Ultimate Fighting Championship returned to us today, September 2, 2023, for UFC Paris, going down live from the Accor Arena in Paris, France.

Headlining the event is a heavyweight bout between a pair of contenders in no. 2 ranked former interim champion Ciryl Gane (11-2) and no. 7 ranked Sergey Spivak (16-3).

Co-headlining the event is a flyweight bout between no. 3 ranked contender Manon Fiorot (10-1) and former UFC strawweight champion Rose Namajunas (11-5).

Our feature fight of the evening came at 155 lbs between Benoit Saint-Denis (12-1) and Thiago Moises (17-7).

Saint-Denis came into the bout on a three-fight win streak following defeat in his promotional debut up at 170 lbs, while Moises came in having won his last two-straight. Of those five combined wins, all five came via finish with one knockout and four submissions.

Saint-Denis opens up the bout attacking the lead leg of Moises, going to the inside leg kick often. Saint-Denis then begins drilling those heavy left kicks into the midsection of Moises, before the action is stopped due to a low blow.

Once it resumes, Saint-Denis keeps pressuring Moises, eventually taking him down. Moises works his way back up and each man lands a barrage of punches toward the end of the round.

Saint-Denis backs Moises up right at the start of the second and takes him down along the fence, backpacking him through the opening two minutes of the round. Moises gets back to his feet once again before momentarily taking Saint-Denis down.

Saint-Denis gets back to work once he returns to his feet, taking Moises down again, reigning down punches en route to the eventual TKO stoppage.

Benoit Saint-Denis improves to 4-0 in the UFC’s lightweight division today at UFC Paris, keeping his 100% finish rate in the process (3 knockouts, 9 submissions).
