Serghei Spivac

Who does Serghei Spivac fight next? Three possible options

It took Serghei Spivac less than two minutes to avenge his loss to Marcin Tybura. He snagged an armbar win last night in the main event of UFC Vegas 95. Now, back in the win column, Spivac will look to hem together a winning streak and make his way to the top of the UFC’s heavyweight division. What’s next for Serghei Spivac? Who is his next challenge? Let’s look at three options!

Jailton Almeida: A way forward

Ranked two spots over Serghei Spivac before UFC Vegas 95, Jailton Almeida is the clear next choice. The top of the division is tied up with previous engagements which leaves Spivac out in the cold. But with Almeida not currently booked and coming off of a win two months ago over Alexandr Romanov, both fighters seem in a good spot for a showdown.

In the fight before Tybura, Spivac dropped a one sided loss to Ciryl Gane. Almeida lost to Curtis Blaydes two fights ago. Both fighters want a win streak and a way into the top of the division. The stakes would make this fight all the better.

Sergei Pavlovich: The best way forward for Serghei Spivac

Ranked fourth yet on a two fight losing streak, Sergei Pavlovich may be the best way forward for Serghei Spivac. Pavlovich challenged Tom Aspinall for the interim title at UFC 295. He lost that fight via knockout at the hands of Aspinall. In his return, Pavlovich lost a one sided decision to Alexander Volkov.

It’s time to step Pavlovich from the highest level of competition. With Spivac looking for another opportunity in the top of the division, a win over Spivac is the most realistic and the most plausible.

Shamil Gaziev: The unranked choice

Shamil Gaziev is an odd fight for Serghei Spivac. But the fight will give Gaziev a second shot at a ranked position in the heavyweight division. He dropped a fight to Jairzinho Rozenstruik and rebounded against Don’Tale Mayes just a week ago. He’s due a shot at the top ten.

Heavy hitting, Gaziev would bring a good test to Spivac while the heavyweight divison sorts itself out. Spivac could get more time to bring his skills to a higher level and get another fight camp/win opportunity under his belt.
