GLORY 110 Results: Miguel Trindade Wins World Title

Miguel Trindade (66-8, 27 KO) made history in the main event of GLORY 110 on Saturday night, October 17, by becoming the first ever GLORY champion from Portugal thanks to a TKO win over Deniz Demirkapu (18-6, 11 KO).

The 25-year-old from Lisbon captured the vacant GLORY featherweight world title thanks to an incredible variety of strikes but, ultimately, it was the low kicks which sent Demirkapu to the canvas three times in the third round, forcing an end to the contest.

In the co-main event, Michael Boapeah (25-7-1, 9 KO) scored a hard-fought shutout victory over Alin Nechita (21-5, 8 KO) via unanimous decision (30-27 x 5). Afterwards, he declared that he would like to be next in line for the light heavyweight title.

Local heroes, Nidal Bchiri (21-6-1, 6 KO) and Berjan Peposhi (33-9, 16 KO) had the Lotto Arena on their feet with exciting performances in the ring. Bchiri KO’d veteran Nordine Mahieddine (29-17, 13 KO) with a first-round body kick while ‘Mr. Fight of the Night’ Peposhi defeated Jeremi Monteiro (36-12, 12 KO) over three action-packed rounds.

Debutant Joshua Akingbade (18-1, 14 KO) put the middleweight division on notice with a dominant display. The Dubliner became the first Irish fighter to register a win in GLORY knocking down opponent Alex Fernandez (25-8-1, 9 KO) twice in the second round making him unable to answer the bell for the third.

Elsewhere on the main card, fan favourite Nabil Khachab (32-7-1, 4 KO) won the ‘battle of the tanks’ against Ionut Iancu (31-13, 13 KO), North Macedonia’s Boban Ilioski (19-6, 7 KO) scored a massive upset KO win over Aimane Latifi (21-5, 6 KO), and Sofian Laidouni (43-6-1, 20 KO) beat Karim Zeghad (34-4, 24 KO) with a patented masterclass over three rounds.

In the GLORY 110 superfight series we saw heavyweight Bouziane Kaddani (14-1, 10 KO) make a huge impact in his GLORY debut with a devastating KO win over Asdren Gashi (19-7-1, 9 KO) and young Noah Ibrahimi (26-1-1, 7 KO) register an impressive shutout performance against Amine El Boujadaini (15-5, 6 KO) in the opening bout of the night.

GLORY returns with COLLISION 10 on December 12 from the GelreDome in Arnhem, the Netherlands, where Mory Kromah defends his GLORY heavyweight world title against Antonio Plazibat. Tickets are on sale now through GLORYKickboxing.com.
