AOW 35 Results – Art of War Cage Fighting – Garbarino vs Kline

Art of War Cage Fighting officials held tonight’s AOW 35 fight card from the event center at LIVE! Casino and Hotel in Philadelphia.

In the April 5 main event, undefeated professional mixed martial artist John Garbarino puts his perfect 2-0 record on the line against “The Dreem” Kareem Kline.

LIVE! Philadelphia is located at 900 Packer Ave, Philadelphia, PA 19148. Fights start at 7 pm ET. If you cannot make it to the venue, order and watch AOW 35 on the StarFund App.

In the opening contest of the night, Nick Stephenson needed just about a minute and a half to dispose of his opponent Terrell Brittingham, submitting him by way of arm triangle choke in the very first round.  Following the bout, Stephenson asked promoter Mike Bickings to reserve a spot for him on the next fight card.

The second fight of the night was an advanced amateur contest and saw Tajikistan’s Anis Abdulloev defeat his opponent Joseph Gailan for the vacant Art of War Cage Fighting flyweight title.

Just prior to the start of the third scrap of the evening, Bickings entered to cage to announce that the bantamweight bout between Ethen Mercado and Anthony Hewitt would now be decided for the vacant bantamweight title.  After a hard fought back-and-back battle the crowd is chanting, “Let’s go Ethen.”  Mercado takes home the hardware with a unanimous decision victory.

Cade Berardelli was dominant in his performance over Jaden Jefferson, winning the 195-pound bout by way of unanimous decision.  Berardelli, a student under former UFC fighter Jonavin Webb, showed superior grappling prowess throughout the contest, working in chokes and arm attacks, and nearly forcing a finish.

WOW!!!! Francis Trivelli and Dominick Parker put one hell of an exciting matchup, even if it were only for one round.  These two men went back-and-forth, hitting each other with everything including the kitchen sink and more.  When Trivelli appeared to be out of it, he bounced back and finished Parker to claim the vacant featherweight title.  Incredible win for Trivelli.

Lex Ludlow earned his first professional mixed martial arts victory after just 10-seconds into his heavyweight fight against Richard Haynes who retired from combat sports following the loss.

Jimmy Hinel put on an impressive performance in the night’s co-main event, stopping Mikeal Kennedy at 3:20 of the first-round.  It appeared as if Kennedy sustained an eye injury early on and once knocked down to the canvas, was left defenseless against the vicious strikes of Hinel.

No glove touch between John Garbarino and Kareem Kline before the start of their AOW 35 main event. Garb secures two beautiful throws in the first-round, much to the delight of the sold-out crowd at LIVE! Casino and Hotel.  Kline lands a takedown to put Garb on his back before the referee temporarily stops the fight for an illegal headbutt.  Kline is warned for the infraction but a point in not deducted at this point.  The action continues and the two combatants fight to the bell.  It looks like we will see the first, second-round of professional MMA action here in Philadelphia tonight. Garb is like a backpack in the second frame, sticking to Kline’s back like it is his job.  Not giving him an inch to breathe, Garbarino begins to pummel the body of his opponent, but it is not yet enough to finish the contest.  We move to the third and final frame.  Once again, Garb is dictating the pace of this contest, controlling the cage and making Kline fight off of his back.  Kline, appearing to be fatigued at this point, slows down but is still providing shots of offense when the opportunity presents itself.  Unfortunately for Kline it does not appear that the clock is in his favor and as time expires Garbarino will pick up a decision victory.
