Bellator 264 Results: Khadzhi Bestaev defeats Ty Gwerder in Comeback Decision

Bellator 264 is going down tonight at the Mohegan Sun in Uncasville, Connecticut. Before the main event, a middleweight championship bout between champion, Gegard Mousasi and challenger, John Salter, Bellator newcomer, Khadzhi Bestaev will take on the Hawaiian, Ty Gwerder in a middleweight featured bout.

Bestaev entered the cage at 11-4 in his MMA career and Gwerder enters at 5-3 overall. Bestaev has a four-inch height advantage entering the cage.

These two fighters entered the cage and once the door was locked behind them, they let everything go. Both fighters left everything they have inside the cage as it was action-packed from the start to finish. Read below to know how the fight went from round to round.

Round 1:

Gwerder went for the high kick right away. Bestaev answered with a clinch and some knees. The two fighters keep exchanging strikes. Gwerder leaping in with strikes but Bestaev using knees up the middle. Gwerder lands a massive shot that drops Bestaev and Gwerder leaps on dropping a blitz of strikes. Gwerder throws another high kick. Bestaev puls guard and Gwerder escapes and makes Besraev stand up. Gwerder landing a knee with his foes back against the cage. Gwerder eventually earns the takedown and pulls Bestaev away from the cage. Gwerder avoids a head kick. lands a high kick of his own and then followed up with a knee. Gwerder stuffs the takedown attempt after landing numerous shots and the round ends with him sprawling into full guard.

Round 2:

Bestaev throws a body kick to open the round. Then throws a nice uppercut. Bestaev increasing the volume of strikes. Gwerder trying to work the body. His volume has diminished drastically. Bestaev is landing big shots. Looking like the fresher fighter in round two. Gwerder trying to work leg kicks. The two fighters continue to trade strikes. Gwerder went for the takedown. Bestaev is in full guard and gets a figure 4 body lock from the bottom. Bestaev appeared to have won that round. Gwerder appeared to have fatigued himself.

Round 3:

The two fighters show respect and get back to action. Both exchanging and Bestaev lands a massive left hook that fogs Gwerder. Follows it up with a head kick and then Gwerder gets a takedown. Bestaev on the bottom secures a triangle around Gwerder’s head, as blood is pouring out of Gwerder’s head. Gwerder escapes. and the crowd gets loud. Bestaev trying to go for another armbar after locking up another leg triangle. Gwerder shrugs it by and back on top. Gwerder transition to side control. Gwerder starts landing some strikes from the top. The fight ends with Gwerder throwing elbows and fists from the top.
