Former champ, Koreshkov dominates Homasi – Back in the Bellator title mix

Bellator MMA hosts Bellator 264 tonight, August 13, from the Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Connecticut. In the main event, Bellator middleweight champion Gegard Mousasi defends his title against John Salter. In the co-headliner, former welterweight champ Andrey Koreshkov meets Sabah Homasi.

In the co-main event, Andrey Koreshkov returns to the Bellator cage for the first time since 2019. Following a dominant win in Sochi, Russia at AMC Fight Nights, he returns to find his place in the Bellator welterweight division.

Sabah Homasi is looking to rebound from a loss to Paul Daly in April. Previously riding a 4-fight win streak before the bout with Daly, Homasi and is looking to get back in the mix with a win over Koreshkov.


Round 1: Homasi settles in with his kicks early. Koreshkov follows up with several punches followed by kicks. Koreshkov fires is a spinning hook kick that is narrowly misses. Koreshkov over-commits with his punches clinching the fighters with Homasi circling his opponent and trapping Koreshkov against the cage. Koreshkov is able to get the reversal and Homasi escapes to the center of the cage. Koreshkov attempts another spinning kick as Homasi closes the distance, securing the back. Homasi presses Koreshkov against the fence temporarily. Both fighters get back to the center of the cage. Koreshkov lands a flying knee that he believes hurts Homasi, and pounces. Homasi avoids any severe damage, landing a spinning elbow off of the cage himself, as the round draws to a close.

Round 2: Both fighters start the round trading strikes with Koreshkov finding his rhythm early. Koreshkov lands a body shot that freezes Homasi in his tracks against the fence and Koreshkov gets to work, landing pinpoint strikes against Homasi. Homasi explodes off of the fence to get back into the contest, but Koreshkov seemingly has his number. Sizing up another beautiful flying knee, Koreshkov hurts Homasi once again. Homasi desperately grabs a leg, holding on to avoid any further damage. Koreshkov Secure his home is he against the fence and starts teeing off, Homasi gets to his feet and Koreshkov scoops Homasi for a heavy slam, creeping into full mount and nearly finishing Homasi before the bell sounds.

Round 3: Homasi, knowing he needs to get back in the fight, throws a huge bomb, overextending and slipping to the canvas. Koreshkov wastes no time to secure dominant position. Firing elbows to the side, Koreshkov is brutalizing Homasi. Koreshkov spends the majority of the round on top until searching for a rear naked choke attempt. Homasi explodes to reverse, securing top position. Homasi sizes up some elbows from the top, knowing he needs to find his rhythm, quickly, Koreshkov utilizes his rubber guard to secure Homasi from landing any more damage as the round closes.
