Devin Haney, Ryan Garcia

Devin Haney vs. Ryan Garcia talks underway for 2024 bout

Ryan Garcia keeps finding himself in better and better spots. The sport of boxing, which is becoming more of an influencer sport, seems to care more about eyes than talent. Perhaps rightfully so as they are trading brain damage for a nominal fee. Garcia confirmed on X that he and his team have reached out to Devin Haney and his camp for a potential fight in 2024. Haney later confirmed the fact himself.

Ryan Garcia vs. Devin Haney?

Devin Haney may be the new top dog at 140. It’s certainly between he and Teofimo Lopez. Haney is coming off of a win over Regis Prograis a couple weeks ago that have fans wowed by his complete dominance. The big names started calling him out with Gervonta Davis and Terence Crawford being thrown around with Lopez in the mix.

But it may be Ryan Garcia that gets the nod for Haney’s next bout. Ryan Garcia defeated Oscar Duarte just a week before Haney on December 2nd. With the timelines adding up, a potential mega fight could be in the works.

With reports that Teofimo Lopez is going to face Jamaine Ortiz next, it could be the logical option for Haney who is deserving of a money fight.

Devin Haney is coming off the two best wins of his career. Prograis is one of the best at 140 and Haney had a coming out party against him, controlling the fight from bell to bell. Before that, he heat Vasyl Lomachenko at 135 to become undisputed at that weight.

Ryan Garcia’s last two weren’t as spectacular. He had a tough outing against a difficult Oscar Duarte and lost to the aforementioned Gervonta Davis when he was put away by a body shot in round 7.

The fight is light years away from being confirmed and signed. But with Lopez tied up, this gives Haney a big payday and Garcia a shot at the belt.
