Jake Paul to be Featured on Real Sports with Bryant Gumbel

Jake Paul will be featured on the upcoming 300th landmark episode of Real Sports with Bryant Gumbel.

Jake Paul will be featured on the upcoming 300th landmark episode of “Real Sports with Bryant Gumbel” on HBO.

Paul’s claim to fame is from his viral videos on YouTube but in recent years he has entered the realm of combat sports, boxing specifically and made a name for himself. Featured pay-per-view bouts against former MMA champions like Ben Askren and Tyron Woodley twice have trended most recently, the fact that he beat them makes him even more of a phenomenon.

In combat sports, when crossing over disciplines the rule set being used will favor the senior competitor under that ruleset. Right now, that’s Jake Paul as he continues his boxing training and seems to be calling out Conor McGregor now to add to win streak. While he expressed a willingness to crossover into MMA, if McGregor ventures into another boxing exhibition like he did against Floyd Mayweather Jr. back in the summer of 2017, Paul believes he could score a first round knock over McGregor

For the record, in boxing McGregor is 0-1 and Paul is 5-0, there is a difference though.

While both men are not seasoned boxers but McGregor went against arguably the best boxer in recent history with Mayweather Jr. and Paul has yet to face a ranked true boxer. On top of the former MMA champions ( two wins over Woodley) his other opponents were “Gib” another YouTube personality and basketball player, Nate Robinson.

The feature should be interesting as Paul will likely address that fact and his own future in the sport. He will likely let folks know how far he plans on taking his current endeavor because at 25 years-old, there’s room to do a lot more. The episode will also feature  Olympic gold medalist middle distance runner Caster Semenya in a discussion on intersex athletes, and an update on Ukrainian born Paralympic Athlete Oksana Masters.

The new episode airs Tuesday, April 19 at 10:00-11:00 p.m. ET/PT) on HBO and is available to stream on HBO Max.
