Nate Diaz’s Protege Nick Maximov Moving Up To Heavyweight For DWCS Main Event

Interview with Nick Maximov above – Check it out

Nick Maximov (5-0) discusses his heavyweight fight against Oscar Ivan Cota (11-2) at Contender Series on Nov. 17. Nick also talks about moving up a weight class for this fight, training with Nate and Nick Diaz, and potentially winning a UFC contract at 22 years of age. The California native explained his decision to compete up a weight class for this headliner bout.

“I had  205er but he pulled out. So they offered me a heavyweight (fight), and we’re just like what do we do? And we’re like you know what, it’s a good risk. I think the reward is just so much greater than the risk. Obviously, you can get knocked out, you can lose. But at the same time if Dana White sees someone’s that’s a light heavyweight or middleweight fighting up trying to get a shot at the big leagues, how can you not like that?”
