Stipe Miocic teases ONE Championship jump amid UFC frustrations

Stipe Miocic teases ONE Championship crossover amid UFC matchmaking frustrations.

Miocic commented on a recent ONE Championship Instagram post regarding who the powerhouse Asian MMA promotion should sign next.

Stipe Miocic commented with a series of “thinking face” emojis. Symbols that could indicate he is somewhat pondering a move from the UFC Octagon to the ONE Circle.

Reigning ONE Championship heavyweight kingpin Arjan Bhullar was quick to offer up his thoughts on social media regarding Miocic possibly joining ONE.

In the above comment, Bhullar did suggest an inter-promotional talent trade between UFC and ONE Championship ala Demetrious Johnson and Ben Askren years back. Not an entirely unprecedented thing but still super anomalous.

It remains to be seen how serious Miocic is as this could very likely just be an attempt to get people talking. While also simultaneously expressing his discontentment with his situation in the UFC currently.

Ciryl Gane and Derrick Lewis will soon vie for the interim UFC heavyweight world championship. This prizefight transpires at UFC 265 in August’s top of the marquee attraction.

A fan in the Instagram comments posited that perhaps Miocic should wait things out. To see the Gane vs Lewis winner fight reigning UFC heavyweight champion Francis Ngannou and then have Miocic fight the subsequent victor of that title bout.

The history-making UFC title holder responded with the following, “I shouldn’t have to wait for a winner. I have the most heavyweight title defenses of all time… We’re 1-1 but DC [Daniel Cormier] got instant rematches and trilogies against me?”

Miocic is of course referencing his series with reigning UFC heavyweight champion Francis Ngannou and the lack of a rubber match opportunity there. Stipe Miocic dominated the first outing with Francis Ngannou, winning via unanimous decision at UFC 220 in January 2018.

Ngannou emphatically evened up the series in the rematch. The Predator halted Miocic with a left hook in the second round of their UFC 260 heavyweight title clash.

Any chance we see Stipe Miocic throw knees to a grounded opponent in his next outing?
