Austin Hubbard talks The Ultimate Fighter win and TUF experience
Austin Hubbard is still alive on his journey back to the UFC.
Hubbard is a former LFA champion and after flip-flopping fights in the UFC on route to a 3-4 record inside of the octagon, he was cut by the promotion.
That moment was dark for Hubbard has he was crushed mentally after the promotion decided to move on from him.
On top of the pressure, he was putting on himself in his fighting career, Hubbard was also working a full-time job, supporting his family and his brother passed away.
The road to redemption has been tough, but Hubbard is still moving forward.
After his UFC release, Hubbard picked up wins in the XMMA and Cage Aggression promotions.
Then, a big opportunity presented itself.
One day, a producer from the UFC’s hit tv show The Ultimate Fighter contacted Hubbard’s coach and presented Hubbard a contract to compete on the show for a chance to get himself back into the UFC.
Hubbard is one of the lightweight veterans on the current season and he is a member of Michael Chandler’s team.
The prospects on the show are being coached by Conor McGregor.
The first two episodes of the show featured the veterans on Chandler’s team picking up wins and then it was Hubbard’s opportunity on the third episode.
Hubbard squared off against LFA champion Aaron McKenzie on that episode and Hubbard made the best of the opportunity.
He battered McKenzie over and over again on route to an easy decision win.
The win keeps Hubbard alive on the show and his dream of making it back to the UFC is still in line.
Following the win on The Ultimate Fighter, Hubbard spoke with MyMMANews about his win, his road back to the UFC and what it was like being coached by Chandler and his brief time around McGregor.
