Gadzhimurad Kagirov, MMA fighter, killed in attack in Dagestan
Gadzhimurad Kagirov, a professional mixed martial arts fighter, has been named as one of five gunmen killed in an attack in Dagestan on Sunday.
The area is to observe three days of mourning after coordinated terror attacks killed at least 15 police officers and four more civilians, the head of the North Caucasus republic.
According to multiple reports, a coordinated attack on churches and synagogues across two cities in Dagestan, a predominantly Muslim republic in Russia’s southern region, led to Kagirov being killed by officers.

Russian State Duma Deputy for Dagestan Abdulkhakim Gadzhiyev said he had “no doubt” that the attackers were “connected to Ukraine and NATO’s intelligence agencies” and that the attacks were an attempt to “destabilise the situation within our country from the inside” amid Russia’s “successes in the special military operation”.
Kagirov, 28, was affiliated with Eagle MMA fight club, which is owned and operated by former UFC lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov. He held a 2-0 MMA record.
