Husband and wife discuss sharing fight card at Shamrock FC 323
Shamrock FC returns to action this Saturday at the Kansas City, Missouri and will feature a husband and wife combination both competing in respective bouts.
Nick and Katelyn Radtka will compete at Shamrock FC 323 at the Ameristar Casino. The event will stream on FITE TV for those who can’t make it to Kansas City. Nick is a professional lightweight fighter who will take on Jason Powell on the main card, while his wife Katelyn, an amateur atomweight, will face Lainey Nations in the featured preliminary bout.
The Radtkas spoke to MyMMANews.com about competing on the same card and whether or not this is the first time that has happened, how they began training together, how both Nick and Katelyn got into the sport of MMA, why both fighters believe that Katelyn’s opponent is a perfect litmus test to see if she is ready to go from amateur to pro, how they like their respective matchups and how they see the fights playing out, and much more.
In addition, Nick and Katelyn discussed what competing on the same card is like and why it will mean so much to do so this Saturday night at Shamrock FC 323.
“It means a lot,” Nick Radtka told MyMMANews.com. “It means something a little different than the first time. I think after you do things for the first time, have a taste for it, you get to see what it’s worth. I think we’ll be able to look back on these moments and have a story. We’ll have stories to tell and memories. People say that experience (is more valuable) over material things and that’s the case. We’ll always have this once it’s completed.”
“It means absolutely everything,” says Katelyn Radtka on sharing the card with her husband. “This has actually been one of my dreams to fight on the same card and it has been for a long time. We did get to do that once, but now I’m ready for us both to win on that same card. It means everything.”
