Anissa Meksen on successful ONE debut and two belt goals

Anissa Meksen stopped Cristina Morales via second-round TKO at ONE: Empower. This Kickboxing contest took place on September 3rd at Singapore Indoor Stadium.

Meksen is an elite pugilist in multiple stand-up-based martial arts disciplines. In the Kickboxing space, Anissa Meksen has garnered belts with Glory and ISKA. In her Muay Thai endeavors, Meksen has become WBC and WMC world champion.

C18 also has a spotless pro boxing record and finally made her long-awaited ONE Championship debut in that Morales bout.

She is regarded by many as the top pound-for-pound women’s striker in the world today. The nature of that last victory could likely solidify her shot at reigning kickboxing queen Janet Todd.

Her high-volume approach in the first round was chipping away at the guard of Morales. The attempts to counterstrike and crack Meksen only left Morales’ body open where she ate some rib roasting body kicks.

Morales’ success with the boxing combinations began to turn around a bit in the second stanza. As Morales started building a bit of traction though, a head kick would turn the tides dramatically.

That kick took place after a head lash and brief break in the action with Meksen following up that head kick with fight-ending left hooks and straight rights.  This win put Meksen at an overall record of 101-5.

I spoke with Anissa Meksen at the post-fight presser and got some of her insights.

Meksen’s feelings on scoring the only stoppage on this history-making ONE: Empower card

“I’m very proud of myself. It was my goal from the beginning so I made the effort towards it. I did it so I’m very happy, very proud.”

Goals to capture titles in Kickboxing and Muay Thai concurrently in the ONE Circle

“I want both of them. My goal is to acquire both of the belts. So I’m striking towards it.”
