Coronavirus Chaos, colby covington

Colby Covington sends a message to the Diaz brothers: “They know who runs the West Coast”

UFC welterweight contender Colby Covington sent a message to the Diaz brothers, suggesting that “they know who runs the West Coast.”

Covington is coming off of a unanimous decision loss in a failed bid to defeat UFC welterweight champion Kamaru Usman. However, it was a fantastic fight, and Covington’s stock did not drop in the division. While he won’t be getting a title shot in his next fight, he will surely be matched up against a bigger name. When it comes to the welterweight division, there are no bigger names than the Diaz bros.

Nate Diaz is on the last fight of his UFC deal while his big brother Nick Diaz recently returned to the Octagon after a long layoff and lost. For those reasons, Covington does not believe that he will fight the Diaz brothers next. But that didn’t stop him from sending a message to both of the Stockton natives.

Speaking to MMANews reporter James Lynch, Covington admitted that he is interested in fighting the Diaz brothers, but he also knows the fights probably won’t happen and so he won’t get his hopes up.

“Yeah, it interests me, but I’m not going to waste my breath or get my hopes up that that fight’s going to happen. They’re never going to fight me. Those guys, they know who daddy is, they know who runs the West Coast. I was born in Sacramento and grew up in Oregon my whole life. I’m the only West Coast gangster out of those three names. They’re Stockton soy boys. I’m raw American steel and twisted sex appeal,” Covington said.

“I don’t think Nate’s going to fight. I don’t know what they’re going to do with him. He only has one fight left on his contract. Of course, he’s not going to accept me on the last fight of his contract. I’ll annihilate that guy, I’ll leave him for literally dead, he’ll have nothing left in the tank. I know that he wants to get out of his UFC contract so that he can go and make more money elsewhere, so no chance those guys will fight me.

Do you want to see Colby Covington fight either Nate Diaz or Nick Diaz next?
