McGregor's Magnificent Record

John Kavanagh reveals Conor McGregor received offer to fight a Chinese Kickboxer

In a place where most UFC lightweights and welterweights are calling out Conor McGregor, apparently, it doesn’t stop there. McGregor is arguably the biggest draw in the fight game, meaning if you fight McGregor, the payday will be a good one.

Now, it isn’t just UFC fighter calling out the former UFC double champ, rather a Chinese kickboxer, according to McGregor’s head coach John Kavanagh.

“I’ll give you a funny one,” John Kavanagh said during a recent appearance on The True Geordie Podcast. “I had a guy message me just a few days ago – a Chinese kickboxer [who] wanted to do three rounds with Conor for $5 million.”

Ultimately, Kavanagh says he has received a ton of messages from agents and fighters giving offers to fight McGregor. Like the others, he thought this was a joke at first as well.

“He was going to put it in escrow. It wasn’t like he was just [joking]. Because again, I get a million messages like that a day, but you just don’t pay attention [to them],” Kavanagh said. “But this guy was connected and it was a legitimate offer. But I know he wouldn’t [do it]. You get the odd funny message like that. And like I said, it was a genuine [offer]. I know the boxing promoter well and he’s very well known. So he wasn’t going to come with an offer that wasn’t legitimate.”

However, even though McGregor got the offer to fight, it is fairly certain that McGregor won’t be fighting this unnamed kickboxer anytime soon. The Irishman still has his eyes on Khabib Nurmagomedov and getting a rematch with him. All the focus is on the UFC right now, and there is no reason to expect the UFC to allow McGregor to fight this kickboxer anyways. McGregor is a draw and the UFC needs him headling pay-per-views, and be a star inside the Octagon.
