Dana White says Mark Zuckerberg vs Elon Musk is “not a gimmick fight”
Recent headlines were made by two of the biggest CEOs in the world, as Mark Zuckerberg, CEO of Meta (Facebook and more) and Elon Musk, CEO of Twitter, Tesla, and more, exchanged words and seemingly agreed to fight each other in a cage fight. The callout has led to plenty of conversation of the two, which included recent comments from UFC President Dana White.
In his experience, Mark Zuckerberg has previously won both gold and silver medals during a BJJ tournament where he was representing the Guerilla Jiu-Jitsu team, and coach Dave Camarillo.
It is unknown if Musk has competed in tournaments like Zuckerberg and has any accolades to his credit, but he’s certainly ready for a fight, and they are not the only ones. UFC President Dana White took the rivalry to another level this weekend during the UFC Jacksonville broadcast this past weekend. Posting a video on his social media pages, White was seen wearing a ‘Zuckerberg vs Musk’ t-shirt which also featured a UFC logo on the sleeve.

The video alone was enough to stir up more conversation about a showdown between the two high-profiled billionaires, even bringing White back into the conversation when someone said that the fight was nothing more than a gimmick. Responding to the comment on Instagram, White had a few things to say about the gimmick label.
“This isn’t a gimmick fight. Gimmick is MMA guys going to boxing and getting beat. We have seen it already and know how it ends. This is a fight between two of the most powerful/richest guys in the world. Who will win? Who has seen this before? Nobody. It’s also a crossover fight that literally everyone will watch.” (H/T MMA Junkie)
It’s interesting to see the terminology used by Dana White, saying more or less that a gimmick fight is when everyone already knows the expected outcome, like MMA fighters in a boxing match. However, a fight between Mark Zuckerberg and Elon Musk? It’s a crossover fight that will bring the general public and fight fans together to watch the spectacle.
There’s plenty of conversation and promotion being done for a fight that is nowhere near the final stages of being completed just yet, but if Dana White and the UFC get behind it, a showdown between Zuckerberg and Musk could be closer to reality than many would like to believe.
